Pretty Woman The Musical
April 6, 2022
One of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, Pretty Woman went on to become the highest-grossing romantic comedy in the US ever.
Having transferred from Broadway to the West End, Pretty Woman: The Musical features direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), an original score by Grammy® winner Bryan Adams and his long-time song-writing partner Jim Vallance (“Summer of ’69”, “Heaven”) and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton.
Based on the iconic 1990 film which starred Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, the musical started its life at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre before transferring to Broadway.
Pretty Woman tells the story of Vivian Ward, a Hollywood escort who is hired by a rich businessman called Edward Lewis to accompany him to a number of events during his stay in the city. Through spending time together, their relationship develops as they get to know each other better.
The musical adaptation of Pretty Woman opened in the West End last February at London’s Piccadilly Theatre. With its return after the pandemic, it is now at The Savoy Theatre. We were lucky enough to take a sold-out coach to see this back in March 2020, demand then and since has been so great that we have to wait months to get an allocation of decent tickets, hence the delay before we can return again. I would much rather wait a few months however and be able to offer some very good seats.
