Warners @ Heythrop Park, The Cotswolds

June 9, 2025

Monday 9th – Friday 13th June 2025

Following our popular Warners short breaks over recent years, this Summer we head to Heythrop Park, Chipping Norton. I have long been wanting to offer a break to The Cotswolds, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. Having been able to secure an allocation of rooms at Heythrop Park, I am really pleased to be able to announce this Summer break. As this is fairly short notice, please see the details below and let me know as soon as you can, should you wish to join us. Demand is always great for our Warners breaks, especially for the single rooms. Please note, due to the layout of the hotel there will be some distance to walk between the rooms and the various facilities.

Famous for their nightly entertainment, daily leisure activities and with a great reputation for food and customer service, Warners has been entertaining its guests for 90 years, with all their properties becoming adult only in 1994. Our 4 night / 5 day stay at Heythrop Park will see us benefit from all the usual things you would expect on a Warner Leisure Hotels break. Whilst precise details might change slightly, we expect to visit the beautiful picture postcard Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold en route to the hotel and we will come home via an extended lunch stop in Oxford on the Friday. In addition, there will be three optional excursions for anyone that wants to take advantage of them. Our excursions are left as optional as I know some people will have been to the area before and may not wish to join us on all, or any, of the excursions but make the most of the amazing 440 acres of grounds and hotel space that Heythrop offers.

Our optional excursions will be a day touring some of the most beautiful Cotswolds villages and towns by coach, the chance to visit the stunning National Trust Hidcote Gardens and the Market Town of Moreton-in-Marsh, as well a visit to the majestic Sudeley Castle with a steam train journey on the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR). Some charges will apply, as described below.

The basic cost of the short break will be £595 per person based on two sharing a standard double room. For all other room types, please contact me for the options available. Please see below for a more detailed itinerary and what is included in the price.

MONDAY – will find us leaving from behind the Dorking Halls at 8.45am, with a view to avoiding the worst of the rush hour traffic and ensuring a relaxing journey as we head to Bourton-on-the-Water. At this picture postcard village, we hope to have a couple of hours free time where we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, as well as find a bite to eat, if we so wish. We will then take a short drive to spend around 90 minutes in the lovely town of Stow-on-the-Wold. Following this stop we will head to Heythrop Park, which will be our home whilst away. With time to check-in and acquaint ourselves with the surroundings, dinner and of course the evening entertainment will follow.

TUESDAY – today comprises a visit to the beautiful National Trust Hidcote Gardens with free time in the Cotswolds market town of Moreton-in-Marsh. Hidcote Gardens is free to enter for National Trust Members, the cost is £19 per person for non-members,

WEDNESDAY – leaving at around 9am, we set off to visit Sudeley Castle. Home to Lady Ashcombe, upon arrival we will be welcomed with tea and coffee whilst we are given a 45-minute history of Sudeley before the rest of our time is free to enjoy the Castle and Gardens. Next, we head to Broadway to take a journey to Cheltenham on the GWSR. Once our step back in time is complete, we take the coach back to Heythrop Park for our evening meal and any activities or entertainment we choose to enjoy. This excursion, as described above, will cost approximately £45 per person.

THURSDAY – whilst exact timings are yet to be confirmed, on our final full day we have the option of a circular coach tour of some of the Cotswolds villages and towns. Stopping for the chance to take tea or coffee and perhaps have lunch in some, we will take a drive through others or stop for a quick photo opportunity where we can.

FRIDAY – leaving the hotel at 10am we will visit Oxford for an extended lunch stop. Oxford boasts an abundance of history of course, as well as plenty of shopping and eateries. If the weather is kind, why not head off for a boat ride or punt on the river or stroll round the Botanical Gardens. Heading home just after 2pm, we anticipate being back in Dorking around 4pm.
