Torvill & Dean – Our Last Dance
April 25, 2025
Friday 25th – Saturday 26th April 2025
Following many requests, I have secured tickets to see Torvill & Dean’s 50th Anniversary and final tour – Our Last Dance. To make a special occasion of it, and to make it a more relaxed affair, we are including an overnight stay.
The show is taking place at the Resorts World Arena, Birmingham. Our bed for the night will be the ideally located 4* Mercure – Birmingham West, being just a 30-minute coach transfer from the hotel to the arena.
We will head straight to our hotel on the Friday where there should be time to use the leisure facilities, for those that want to, before our 3-course dinner. When ready we will take the coach transfer to the Resorts World Arena to enjoy and marvel at the beauty of Torvill & Dean as they take to the ice one last time.
Having taken the short coach transfer back to the hotel we will retire before a leisurely breakfast on the Saturday morning.
Leaving at around 10am we will begin our journey South stopping at the wonderful Waddesdon Manor. Entry is free to National Trust Members and Historic Houses Members. For others, it will be approximately £25 to include the house and grounds or just £15 for the grounds only, which is also free to RHS Members. 2025 prices are yet to be confirmed.
The cost of the trip will be £215 per person based on two sharing a twin or double room. For sole occupancy, there is a £25 supplement. Please see below for a more detailed itinerary and what is included in the price.
FRIDAY – will find us leaving from behind the Dorking Halls at a very civilised 11am. Taking a comfort stop en route, we will head straight to our hotel for the night, the 4* Mercure – Birmingham West. With full use of the facilities during our stay included, there should be time for a quick swim, for those that want to. Otherwise unpack, settle in and freshen up before our three-course dinner at the hotel.
Once finished we will take the short coach transfer to the Resorts World Arena to enjoy British sporting icons Torvill & Dean as they present their 50th Anniversary, and final, tour. Having wowed us with their choreography and grace on the ice, we will return to our hotel where we can relax with a nightcap if we wish before getting a good night’s sleep.
SATURDAY – after a leisurely breakfast, we begin our journey back down South at around 10am. Stopping at the wonderful Waddesdon Manor en route you have the choice of enjoying the grounds on their own or including entry to the house as well.
Built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885 to display his arts and entertain the fashionable world, Waddesdon Manor was opened to the public in 1959, having come into the National Trust’s ownership in 1957. A stunning building, it is home to the Rothschild Collection of paintings, sculpture and decorative arts.
Allowing 3 or 4 hours at Waddesdon Manor we should be back in Dorking at between 5-6pm.
