Bonn Christmas Market
November 29, 2024
Also visiting the Christmas Markets in Koblenz & Bruges
The German Christmas Markets are marvellously atmospheric and a wonderful source of original gift ideas. They also offer a wide range of tasty snacking and refreshment opportunities.
The Christmas Market in the former West German capital is no exception and, handily, sits amidst a wide range of first class city centre stores. The weekend is further enhanced by visits to the Christmas Markets in both Koblenz and the historic Belgian city of Bruges.
The 4* Dorint Hotel
formerly the Hilton, Bonn
The 4* Dorint is excellently located in the centre of Bonn, overlooking the River Rhine and in easy walking distance of the main shopping streets and the Christmas Market.
As you would expect, all the well-appointed rooms offer a high level of comfort with private bathrooms, satellite TV, hairdryer and mini-bar.
The Dorint also boasts a restaurant, large bar and leisure facilities with a gym, sauna and indoor pool.
Finally, the breakfasts at the Dorint are especially good and will set you up for the day.
The Itinerary
Friday: After leaving Dorking at 07.00 the coach starts the journey to Bonn to arrive around 18:00, allowing for Europe being 1-hour ahead. After checking-in the evening is completely free. The Christmas Market remains open until 21:00.
Saturday: Slowing the pace, the whole day is free in Bonn. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Christmas Market and main shopping streets, although you may also want to allow time to use the hotel’s first class leisure facilities including the indoor pool.
Sunday: Today the morning is free, with one idea being a walk along the banks of the Rhine, making sure you get back to the hotel for 13:30, which is when the coach will set-off for Koblez. Situated at the confluence of the River Rhine and the Rover Mosel, and over-looked by the spectacular Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, Koblenz boasts a wonderful setting, and its Christmas Market must be counted among the best in Germany for its size.
Monday: Leaving the hotel after breakfast, the group will drive home via an extended lunch stop in the mediaeval city of Bruges. The anticipated time of arrival back at the departure point is between 21:00 – 22:00.
