Andre Rieu in Maastricht
July 4, 2025
Friday 4th – Monday 7th July
Following our highly popular and successful trips in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 to see Andre Rieu in his hometown concert in Maastricht, I am pleased to say I have been able to secure tickets and accommodation for 2025. This time we will go over the weekend of Friday 4th – Monday 7th July. As you may be aware from the previous trips, tickets for the concert are highly sought after and so they only hold the option open to me for a couple of weeks. We need to move very fast if we are to secure our places.
The cost of the trip will be £645 per person based on two sharing a twin or double room (Single occupancy supplement of £150). Please see below for the itinerary and what is included in the price.
If you wish to book on the trip I will require a non-refundable deposit of £200 per person to secure your place (£350 for sole occupancy). The balance of £445 per person will become due about 8 weeks before our departure.
As you will no doubt appreciate, we will need a minimum number of people to make the trip viable. If you would like to join us, please e-mail or call me to book your place.
Friday – will find us leaving from behind the Dorking Halls at 7am. Once we have crossed the channel, we will take any necessary comfort breaks en route to our hotel for two nights. The Holiday Inn Express offers a great central location with all the highlights of the lovely city of Mechelen, Belgium, within walking distance. Once we have arrived, the remainder of Friday will be free to explore the city.
Saturday – with plenty to enjoy in Mechelen, including the large Saturday market, the Cathedral, a walk, or perhaps boat ride, along the canal and plenty of shopping opportunities, Saturday will be a free day to relax and enjoy what is a lovely compact city. There are of course a wealth of cafes and bars in Mechelen, as well as a local brewery.
Sunday – After breakfast we will head towards Maastricht. Our intended destination for a lunch stop will be Valkenburg. It might be advisable to grab a decent lunch as it is likely to be very busy in the evening in Maastricht and so being 100% certain of finding a restaurant that has availability might be tricky. Something will of course be available, but we might be best advised to eat fully at lunchtime. After our lunch stop, we will move to our hotel, the 4* Van Der Valk – Stein-Urmond, just north of Maastricht, where we can check-in and freshen up with time to get ready for the evening. Leaving at a sensible time we will then head into the city centre allowing time to take in the atmosphere and enjoy the surroundings of the beautiful square and side streets before the concert begins. After the concert we will re-board the coach for our journey back to the hotel.
Monday – With the concert not finishing until around midnight on Sunday, our leave time on the Monday morning will be determined by our driver’s hours. No doubt most will want a bit of a lie-in anyway and so when ready, after a leisurely breakfast we will depart for home. Our intention at this stage is to take in the historic town of Ypres en-route to Calais. Here we should have time for lunch and a brief look around. Home to the Menin Gate and the In Flanders Fields Museum, Ypres is full of history. Mostly rebuilt after the First World War some buildings retained the former gothic style whilst more modern architecture can also be seen. We will leave in plenty of time to make our scheduled return channel crossing home and if all goes according to plan, we hope to be back in Dorking mid-late evening. As always this will be subject to traffic conditions.
