Royal Tour of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich including the Painted Hall

August 11, 2023

In King Charles III’s Coronation year, what better time to visit the Old Royal Naval College to discover the longstanding links between the beautiful riverside College and the British Royalty over the past 500 years.

This special Royal Tour shines a spotlight on the places visited and events attended at the site by members of the Monarchy and Nobility over the last six centuries. From the Tudors to the current House of Windsor, the tour also explores the many on-screen portrayals of Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal Family that have been filmed at the Old Royal Naval College including The King’s Speech, The Madness of George III, and The Crown.

During the tour we will visit the stunning Painted Hall, the Victorian Undercrofts, the majestic grounds and the location of the former Greenwich Palace. Once our tour is complete, our tickets can be used to re-enter the Painted Hall at our leisure.

Just off the Painted Hall is the newly refurbished Nelson Room. The Nelson Room tells the fascinating history of a country in mourning when the body of Nelson returned from the Battle of Trafalgar and was laid-in-state.

With tea and coffee on arrival included, an optional Afternoon Tea can be booked for after the tour or, if you prefer, you can venture into the pretty village of Greenwich itself to find somewhere suitable to have lunch.

Making our way home at around 4pm, with a view to arriving back in Dorking at around 6pm, there will be a little free time for those that want to do some other sightseeing in the area.
