The Mill @ Sonning
August 31, 2022
River Cruise & Afternoon Tea followed by a Backstage Tour and Talk
Having visited The Mill @ Sonning for many years now and having enjoyed many productions there, the one phrase that always comes up is, ‘How do they do all that on such a small stage?!’. Well, now is your chance to find out!
With a backstage tour and a talk from the Director, we will discover the history of the Mill and how the theatre came about. We will hear about some of the past productions and will get to see exactly what goes on behind the scenes and how the wonderful productions we get to enjoy, are put together.
Leaving at a leisurely 10.30am, we head to Caversham Pier. Here we will board our boat, the Caversham Lady, which will take us up the River Thames to Sonning Lock. After the hour-long cruise, we will disembark and take a relaxing stroll along the flat tow path and over the bridge to the theatre. On arrival we will enjoy an afternoon tea before the talk and backstage tour begins. Once our day is over the coach will take us from the theatre back to Dorking, arriving home at about 6/6.30pm.
I have always wanted to be able to do a backstage tour of The Mill @ Sonning and so am really pleased we have this chance to get an insight into such a unique and wonderful venue. Our trips are full almost every time we visit Sonning and so I imagine there will be plenty of interest to see exactly how they do it! Having previously won ‘UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre’, we are assured our usual first-class experience.
