Staying in Den Haag & Visiting Amsterdam, The Keukenhof Gardens & The Floriade Festival

Star billing jointly goes to Amsterdam, the wonderful Keukenhof Gardens which should be in their absolute prime at the time of your visit, and the Floriade Festival that is only held once every 10 years.
The tour also includes a visit to Middleburg, the picturesque capital of Zeeland Province in which the group stop for lunch on the homeward journey.
The purpose of the Keukenhof Gardens is to act as a beautiful shop window for Holland’s world leading horticultural industry. A staggering 7m bulbs are planted annually to produce the truly stunning displays and, to show the preeminence of Dutch growers. 90% of the UK’s flower imports come from The Netherlands.
The 2022 Floriade will offer visitors more than the opportunity to experience some of the world’s most exquisite and exceptional flowers and plants as its ambitions have widened and aim to encourage greater environmental awareness, while providing a catalyst for green technology and innovation, not just in horticulture, but in the whole way we live.
The Outline Itinerary
Sunday – After departing Dorking at 7.30 the coach drives to Folkstone to catch a Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. The crossing takes 35-minutes and, once on the continent, the group head for Den Haag to arrive by late afternoon, allowing for a comfort stop on the motorway. After checking-in at the hotel, the remainder of the day is free.
Monday – Keeping things relaxed, the day is divided between a visit to the wonderful Keukenhof Gardens and some welcome free time in Den Haag.
Tuesday – Today the programme is centred on the Floriade which in 2022 is being held at Almere. The journey will take just over an hour each way and the plan is to give people time to see all they want, allowing for lunch and regular refreshments breaks. The coach will return to the hotel by late afternoon.
Wednesday – Still keeping things relaxed, the itinerary features a full day visit to Amsterdam.
Thursday – Leaving the hotel after breakfast the coach will start the journey home. En route the group will stop in Middleburg for a lunch break. From here the coach will return to Calais. The expected time of arrival back at the departure point is 19.30.
